Developing the Knowledge Economy

University of Wales: Trinity Saint David The creation of UW Trinity Saint David will present significant opportunities for the development of Third Mission activities. Given the current economic climate, demographic change, and skills needs of the region, UW Trinity Saint David will be outward facing, dynamic and responsive to change in order to help the region compete and survive at a challenging time.

The University will be in a key position to take forward major initiatives to support the enhancement of higher level skills in the development of a knowledge society and economy in South West Wales.

The University’s expertise for Welsh-medium provision, bilingualism and social inclusion will be exploited by public and private sector organisations seeking to ensure that cultural, equality and inclusivity issues underpin their training and business development needs. Key strengths of the University are identified as education and continuing professional development, business and management, social inclusion, tourism, heritage as well as the creative and cultural arts.

The University will build upon its existing track record of developing and delivering projects and services for and with Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Wales. It will foster a partnership approach to developing a real understanding of the issues facing small businesses in rural Wales and provide focused support to address their needs.
