Community and Civic Engagement

University of Wales: Trinity Saint David UW Trinity Saint David will position itself at the heart of community and civic initiatives in South West Wales. It will build upon the partnerships with key agencies in the region to influence cultural, social and economic prosperity.

Through its academic programmes, delivered on campus and in the workplace, and a range of activities delivered in schools and community venues, it will build upon existing initiatives to widen access to higher education and encourage participation from under-represented groups.

The University’s expertise in the Creative and Cultural Arts is an excellent example of how it can engage with the community it serves. A range of exciting projects and activities are made possible through the academic portfolio - including theatrical productions, literary events, exhibitions and workshops on the campuses as well as in community venues – which provide added value to the student experience and actively promotes multilingual arts and culture within the region.

The University’s ability to belong to its region and to be owned by its communities will be greater enhanced by civic engagement and community development initiatives. On a strategic level, it will play a major role in regional planning through its partnerships with the public sector organisations; on practical levels, it will encourage the removal of barriers between town and gown so that the University, its resources and services are celebrated as regional assets.
