Dr Jane Cartwright is a Reader and Co-ordinator of the MA in Celtic Studies. She lectures through the medium of Welsh and English and has supervised and/or examined theses on a wide range of topics relating to the literature, religion and history of Wales.
Her research interests include medieval Welsh religious history, the cult of the Virgin Mary, the history of the nunneries in medieval Wales , virginity literature and Welsh saints' cults.
She is one of the leading scholars working in the field of feminine sanctity and Middle Welsh hagiography and her publications include Y Forwyn Fair, Santesau a Lleianod (Cardiff, 1999), Celtic Hagiography and Saints' Cults (Cardiff, 2003) and Feminine Sanctity and Spirituality in Medieval Wales (Cardiff, 2007).
