Mark Kelley (Head of School)

Mark trained at Central College, Iowa and at Pella Opera House, working in numerous areas of technical theatre. He has worked on over thirty five productions and has a research interest in the applications of new technologies to theatre-making.

Jim McCarthy (Postgraduate Programme Coordinator & Senior Lecturer)

Jim trained at the Universities of Swansea and Leeds. He has published widely on 1930s Spanish theatre and is the author of Political Theatre during the Spanish Civil War. He is a member of the Society for Theatre Research and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Bill Talbot (Senior Lecturer)

BA (Hons) Theatre Design (Nottingham-Trent)
PG (Cert) TLHE.(CSSD)

Bill has extensive experience as a specialist maker of props, puppets, scenery and models for Opera companies, Theatre and Television. After founding his own company Talismen (Cardiff) he completed over 300 commissions for clients such as the BBC, WNO, 20th Century Fox and Iron Maiden, before becoming Head of Props at Bristol Old Vic. Having worked at a number of colleges across the UK, he gained a further teaching qualification at Central School of Speech and Drama and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Stephen Dennis (Theatre Technician)

Steve trained in Theatre Design and Production at the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David and has subsequently worked in a number of professional venues including the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven as Assistant Technical Manager. Steve has worked in professional theatre since the age of sixteen and is a member of the Association of British Theatre Technicians.

Mair George (Marketing and Administration)

Mair studied Drama and Hispanic Studies at Queen Mary, University of London. She has worked with The Welsh National Opera both as Assistant to the Company Manager and as Interpreter. Mair has also worked extensively with the West Glamorgan Youth Theatre Company.
