Role in the University
Bill is the professional & vocation development co-ordinator for the outdoor education department. Bill is also an External Examiner for the four outdoor related degrees at UCLAN University. He has also worked on both internal and external validation boards for various undergraduate courses at Trinity Saint David University and Uclan University.
Bill lectures on a variety of modules including, Outdoor Facilitation, Environmental Hazards, Risk Management, Marketing Outdoors, Work Placement, Leadership, Expeditions, Psychology of Adventure. Bill also provides National Governing Body awards, international expeditions and training and assessment programs for many organisations.
Background
Bill learnt his craft whilst serving in her majesty’s forces, as a Royal Marines Commando, amongst his roles he served as an adventure training leader, managing activities on beaches in Cyprus, Belize, Brunei and in the UK.
After which he moved to South Africa and freelanced for 18 months on returning to his home in south Wales he freelanced for another 18 months before setting up Welsh Leisure Activities (WLA) a paragliding, water sports and land based activity centre based on Gower.
He then became head of Rhosilli Outdoor Education Centre a private - public partnership between West Glamorgan and WLA.
He commenced work with us at Trinity Saint David in 2003.
