Senior Lecturer in Health & Exercise

Role in the University

Alison has been lecturing in higher education for over 10 years and is currently the Programme Leader for the BSc Health, Nutrition and Lifestyle. She is the School of Sport, Health & Outdoor Education co-ordinator for the staff / student and widening access committees.

Alison leads a variety of modules on the degrees offered by the school and include amongst others, Health and Exercise Psychology, Skill Acquisition, Coaching Pedagogy and Undergraduate Dissertations. She has also worked on both internal and external validation boards for various undergraduate courses at Trinity University College.

Academic Interests

Alison Is currently embarking on a PhD examining motives and barriers to exercise in Type II Diabetes.

Additional Information

Alison Connaughton is a full time lecturer in the School of Sport, Health and Outdoor Education and has taught in higher education in the UK for the last eight years. She leads a range of modules on the Sport, Health and Outdoor Education Courses, mainly those with a psychology focus. Her involvement in professional organisations includes being a member of the BPS (Graduate Basis for Registration), a member of BASES and she is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her research interests include motivation and barriers to sport and exercise.
