Background
I have worked at the University since 2002, having previously worked as a biologist in Lancaster University. Having taught on a variety of conservation and environmental modules for different Schools in the University I am now a full time member of the School of Early Childhood. My teaching work is focused on young children’s health and biology, academic skills and research issues. I also have an interest in education for sustainability and global citizenship and how this links to the Foundation Phase, as well as the role educators have in promoting sustainability, awareness of the natural world and working as environmentally aware practitioners.
Academic Interests
My current research interests are varied and include work exploring the perceptions of landscape and environment. I have recently been involved in research investigating the barriers faced by Black and Minority Ethnic groups when accessing education, which will inform the University’s widening access agenda. I am also working on a research project exploring bilingual education in the Foundation Phase.
