Job Title

Lecturer

Role in the University

BA Addysg Blynyddoedd Cynnar (Welsh medium): Programme Coordinator (Acting)

Background

I came to higher education later than usual having run a cylch meithrin for a number of years and raising a young family. I trained as a primary teacher at Trinity specialising in infants and then spent a number of years as an infants teacher. I enrolled on the MA Early Years Education whilst still working as a teacher. I was then seconded to lecture at Trinity and joined the staff of the School of Early Childhood permanently in 2005. My main teaching is through the medium of Welsh. I am a qualified Forest School leader and recently spent time in Denmark on a Forest School study week. As with the rest of the School, I have been on a study visit to Reggio Emilia.

Academic Interests

The area of my particular interest is outdoor play, creativity and outdoor learning in the early years. My MA research dissertation involved active research in a local primary school studying young children’s learning in the outdoor environment and the Foundation Phase 3 – 7 years.
