Flexible Learning Route
The BA EYE is offered to mature candidates who are working with young children and have extensive experience of early years education and care. If you are accepted onto this route, you will be able to access modules during evenings and a number of Saturdays during the term.
Karen Pereira
Studied the Flexible Learning Route
"For 16 years I had been working in various areas of childcare but, although I had a lot of experience, my highest qualification in this sector was an NVQ 3 in Playwork. I wanted to continue with my education in this area but, as I was working full time, this was difficult. I was very pleased that Trinity College offered this course through a flexible learning route which was very accommodating for the mature learners (like myself!). I attended evening lectures twice a week and occasional Saturdays throughout the three year course.
I thoroughly enjoyed the lectures and the individual study and learnt the theories that underpinned the work that I was doing. I made good friends who now work across the sector and I regularly come across them at meetings. I still maintain contact with my lecturers.
At the time I was not looking for the degree to enhance my career prospects, but I am now the West Wales Team Leader with Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids' Clubs and do not think I would have this position without my degree.
My role as West Wales Team Leader with Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids' Clubs is managing and supporting our development officers and training officers in Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Swansea and Neath & Port Talbot. My job requires me to attend both internal and external meetings on an All Wales basis and support the work of our Director and Finance Manager based in our Head Office in Cardiff.
It was the School of Early Years Education at Trinity that gave me the encouragement, opportunity, and then the degree, to make a career in children's services."
