Y Gamfa Wen
Y Gamfa Wen is the University's day nursery. The name comes from a delightful Welsh nursery rhyme - gamfa is a stile for stepping over a fence, a hedge, or a hurdle - and the song is part of all Welsh speaking children's repertoire. Y Gamfa Wen provides childcare for students, staff and the local community for children from 6 weeks to 5 years.
The main language of the nursery is Welsh and it includes in its provision several innovative theories and play-centred approaches highlighted in the School of Early Years Education programmes. School of EYE students have an opportunity to do placements and activities related to their studies in the Gamfa Wen. This gives students opportunities to gain practical knowledge and put theory into practice.
Students who are themselves parents or carers can also use the Gamfa Wen as a child care provider during their studies.
