Working with children under 3

Those working with children under 3 need particular expertise. They need to be knowledgeable and skilled in promoting the development and learning of very young children, they need to understand the importance of language in ensuring young children’s sense of self and well-being.

We work closely with the University day nursery, Y Gamfa Wen and our students, undergraduate and postgraduate, have opportunities for placement at the nursery.

Staff from the School have also been very involved in providing short training courses for nurseries in working with under 3s through the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA).

The School also offers a programme for those wanting to go into day nursery management: Certificate of Higher Education in Nursery Management.
