English and English with TEFL
English at the School of Cultural Studies is dedicated to the development of critical, theoretical and literary understanding of texts in a supportive environment, with a strong commitment to pastoral care and individual student support.
Students can choose to study for a single Honours degree or they may follow a joint path with our experienced tutors with others elements in the school such as Creative Writing or TEFL.
Students have a wide range of resources at their disposal. In addition to three libraries (two on the Lampeter Campus and one on the Carmarthen campus) and the department’s own collection of videos and slides, the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth is not far away.
For those interested in contemporary writing it is easy to access a wide range of writers and services for writers through the Dylan Thomas Centre for literature in Swansea.
Regular events including films, readings and research seminars by postgraduates, staff and visiting academics are held weekly during term times.
The School of Cultural Studies also has a commitment to providing English language support and we encourage international students from any part of the University to contact the English department to discuss their language needs.
