UWICAH

UWICAH is the Universities in Wales Institute of Classics and Ancient History. The School of Classics is a founding member of the Institute along with the School of Classics, Ancient History and Egyptology in Swansea University and the School of History, Archaeology and Religion in Cardiff University.

The main aim of UWICAH is to promote the study of Classics and Ancient History in Wales. It organises an annual colloquium at Gregynog Hall, as well as a seminar series across the three Schools every year.

The annual colloquium provides a unique annual conference opportunity for UWICAH to explore areas of research and promote Classics and Ancient History in the region through a conference programme that includes scholars of international reputation and significance.

In 2009, the annual colloquium was organised by the School of Classics at Trinity St David hosting the conference “Wealth in the Ancient World”.

The School further hosts a number of UWICAH seminars in its Research Seminar Series.
