Welfare and Support
Studying at University can be a challenging experience and often students need support, particularly during their first year of study. The School of Classics is committed to providing the best learning experience to all our students throughout their studies with us.
The School operates a successful personal tutor system, which enables all our students to receive advice from a qualified member of academic staff.
Personal tutors provide students with a constant point of contact in the School and can offer advice on academic choices, assignments and examinations, as well as advice and guidance on Personal Development Planning (PDP) as part of our employability-centred curriculum.
The School has a dedicated Welfare Officer that works closely with Student Services to offer all our students support during their studies. We have long experience in supporting students with special needs and learning difficulties. The School is committed to providing an equal learning experience to all our students, undergraduate and postgraduate, studying residentially and at a distance.
Specifically for our first-year undergraduate students, the School offer extra support in the crucial first year of study and transition to Higher Education through our First Year Tutor. The First Year Tutor works closely with personal tutors to provide help and support to incoming undergraduates during their introduction to Higher Education.
