Job Title

Lecturer & MBA Admissions Tutor

Role in the University

Huw is Programme Coordinator for the School’s MBA Marketing Pathway as well as Admissions Tutor for all MBA programmes in the School of Business. He contributes to a variety of undergraduate modules including the Level 4 Global Business Environment, and is responsible for the delivery of the following MBA modules:

  • Global Marketing
  • Consumer Behaviour
  • MBA Marketing Project

Background

Huw became a full-time lecturer in the School of Business in January 2008, having previously taught part time in Lampeter since 2003. During this time he was also a visiting lecturer at Swansea University’s School of Business and at Aberystwyth University.

Huw has wide experience of the business world, as well as specialist knowledge of the heritage tourism industry. His career to date has included posts with the National Trust, Cadw:Welsh Historic Monuments, Dwr Cymru Welsh Water and the National Museums & Galleries of Wales, where he was Head of Marketing & PR for 5 years.

He has also worked as an independent business advisor to SME’s. Huw has an MPhil in Marketing, gained whilst working for the National Trust, and also a PGCE and Postgraduate Certificate in Tourism Management.

Member of

A Welsh speaker, he is a Member of the Chartered Institute of marketing (MCIM), a Member of the Tourism Society (MTS), director of a South Wales visitor attraction business, and an Assessor for the VisitWales Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme (VAQAS).

Academic Interests

He is currently studying for a PhD, and his research interests focus on the marketing, operation and development of small businesses in the visitor attraction sector.
