Jill also contributes an Enterprise module to MA programmes in the School of Archaeology, History and Anthropology

Background

Jill Venus is a Senior Lecturer in the department, having joined the University in 1988; Jill has worked in a variety of academic and private training situations working on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, post-experience courses and also on community and non-vocational training. She has research interests in the areas of small business development, rural regeneration, project evaluation and women and entrepreneurship.

Academic Interests

Currently Jill is a co-researcher in an AHRC funded research project ‘For Love or Money’ which is examining the motivations (both creative and business) of women working in the ceramics sector. 

Jill is currently supervising a number of research students in areas that include the strategic support for entrepreneurs; and governance, succession and entrepreneurship in family business.

Additional Information

Recently Jill has visited Trinidad on two occasions to deliver one day workshops on behalf of the National Entrepreneurship Development Company, in the areas of ‘Women and Entrepreneurship’ and ‘Thinking and Working Innovatively: Successful Entrepreneurship’.  

Current consultancy work includes developing project evaluation frameworks in the rural development sector.
