Role in the University
Conny is Head of the School of Business, which currently operates on two sites in West Wales. All new undergraduate provision is now located on the Carmarthen campus and postgraduate taught and postgraduate research students are based largely on the Lampeter campus. The Business School is currently establishing a presence on the TSD London campus and the first new intake of postgraduate students in London is expected in June 2012.
Background
Born and educated in Germany, Conny achieved her Diploma in Industrial Management, whilst working for ITT International. She is experienced in the practical aspects of business management, having gained operational and management experience in Germany, whilst working for ITT and as a retail manager, theatre manager and hospitality and catering manager in the UK.
Conny holds a postgraduate Certificate in Education and NVQ trainer and assessor qualifications. Whilst lecturing in Theatre and Arts Administration and working as a theatre manager, Conny obtained an MBA from the University of Glamorgan in 1997. Conny is studying for a Doctor of Education at the School of Education, University of Sheffield, focusing on research into Change Management at middle management level in Higher Education. Conny has also supervised a very successful Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Castell Howell, one of rural Wales’ leading food wholesaler and distribution companies.
Conny has served on a number of Boards and is a past Vice Chair of Antur Teifi, a Ceredigion based and European funded Enterprise Agency. Conny has undertaken and participated in a number of consultancy projects ranging from advising German jewelry companies on their market entry strategies for the UK to mentoring local voluntary and community groups on their strategic development.
Conny believes in the concept of social entrepreneurship and was a Board member and Company Secretary for Artscare/Gofal Celf for 5 years. Past strategic roles have included being on the Board of the Foothold Group, a Carmarthenshire based Social and Community Enterprise organization, as a non executive Director, with a special remit for Marketing and PR.
