What We Offer
Black & Color Photocopying
Copying of more than 20 copies black print or 40 copies colour print.
Our high volume digital photocopiers allow us to provide a quick, professional and cost-effective photocopying service. Copied sheets can be collated, folded, stapled and bound into booklets or simply supplied as loose leaves. (Folding: A4 to A5, A3 to A4, A4 to 1/3 A4. Stapling: one or two stitches on the side of the flat sheets. Booklets: folded sheets (A4 or A3) made into booklet form by stapling in the spine, please note pages must be in multiples of four.)
We stock a wide range of coloured paper and card including overhead transparencies for you to choose from.
Once you have taken into account paper, toner costs and the inconvenience and time factors then it makes good cost-effective sense to let the Reprographics Unit produce your photocopies rather than using the office copier.
Spot Colour Printing
Where bulk printing is required then this proves to be the most cost-effective option. A limited range of spot colours are available (Pantone 281, Pantone 1665, black, red & green). This is the process used for the production of the University’s stationery.
Wide Format Printing
A1 and Banner (24’ wide / long length) full colour printing.
Desktop Publishing & Design
The Reprographics Unit offers a comprehensive desktop publishing & design service to both internal customers at the University and external clients in the Lampeter area, with many years experience in the design and printing industry we can offer complete design and print solutions. We realise that producing any promotional literature can sometimes be daunting. We believe in using our expertise and knowledge to guide the customer through this process from the concept and design stage right through to the finished printed product.
Specialist Binding & Folders
Fastback: a heat sealed adhesive strip is wrapped around the spine. Particularly used for binding reports, thesis submissions, modules and combinding lecture notes and hand outs for easier access and use. A maximum of 275 pages (depending on thickness of paper) can be bound into each volume.
Perfect: pages are glued into a wrap around cover (paperback book style).
Padding: most commonly used for tear off pads with the sheets being glued at the head or spine.
Hardback incl gold foil: used for the final submission of thesis or where a prestigious finish is required. The cover and spine can have gold foil print aplied within certain limitaions and a maximum of 270 pages (depending on thickness of paper) can be bound into each volume.
Folders: cost-effective customised pocket folders in a range of sizes printed inside and out.
Finishing
Provision of a collating, stitching, booklet folding & trimming service.
Folding
We offer five types of standard folding modes: single fold, double fold, irregular accordion fold, letter fold and accordion fold. We can fold a wide range of sizes and stock weights encompassing everything from letters to leaflets to menus.
Laminating
A4, A3, A1 and Banner (24’ wide / long length) wide format laminating. The A1 and Banner laminating is available in a choice of matt or gloss finish.
We offer a high quality lamination service, which involves encapsulating a hard copy print in a water and UV-resistant plastic film. This service is particularly useful to those printing display posters, or who want to ensure their print will last. Please note: Although we endeavour to ensure all work is carried out to the highest standard, there is an element of risk in the lamination process. Therefore, please understand all lamination is done at the client’s own risk. We take all care but no responsibility for any damage to documents as a result of the lamination process.
Paper and Print Purchasing
Due to the amount of paper purchased annually we obtain substantial discounts from paper merchants and suppliers. These discounts are passed on to service users who wish to purchase paper for photocopying and other purposes. An extensive range of colours, quality and style of paper are available. We offer the University advice on its printed material and can source externally any service (specialised printing etc.) which we are unable to do internally.
