Thomas Shotter Boys. Original views of London as it is. London, 1842.
The vivacity of the scenes in Original Views of London as It Is by watercolourist and printmaker Thomas Shotter Boys (1803–1874) ensured its immediate artistic and commercial success. Apart from the beauty of its aquatint plates, it records London at a period when good pictorial records were few. Shortly after the publication of Original Views aquatint was abandoned in favour of cheaper production methods.
