Jean-Nicolas Jadelot. Cours complet d'anatomie. Nancy, 1773.
This stunning volume of French neo-classical anatomical art begins with the figures of Apollo and Venus and by stages strips their flesh and muscle until all that remains of them are their skeletal hands and feet. The images were prepared in mezzotint by Arnauld-Eloi and painted by Jean Girardet.
