Thomas Phillips and the Greatest Little Library in Wales
To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Thomas Phillips (1760-1851), generous benefactor of the University Library.
This exhibition is intended to reveal some of the wealth and diversity of the Phillips collection and to celebrate his life. It includes works which are acknowledged treasures of western scholarship and publishing history as well as more humble but no less fascinating volumes. Aspects of Phillips' own life and career are represented by volumes on anatomy, Canada, Australia, the East India Company, London and Wales.
