Students share their Lesotho experience live on TV

Hannah Thomas and Christine Rigby from the School of Initial Teacher Education and Training and Llinos Haf School of Early Childhood appeared on Wedi 3 yesterday (19 October) to share their experience of a recent visit to Lesotho organised by the University.

Lesotho is a mountainous kingdom, completely surrounded by the country of South Africa and experiences many of the same health and economic challenges as any third world country.

“Life in Lesotho is so very different to what we are used to in Wales. Children here moan to about having to go to school – and in Lesotho, children as young as 3 years old walk around an hour each day just to get there. And they are so grateful for everything”, said Llinos Haf.

Christine added:

“Everything we saw and did while we were there has made us value what we already have and has helped us learn and grow as people - and as future teachers and nursery workers.”
