A Trinity Saint David scholar gave the keynote address at the Annual Congress of the New Testament Society of South Africa (Theme: Early Christianity and Empire - Then and Now) held this month at the North-West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Dr. Kathy Ehrensperger from the School of Theology, Religious Studies and Islamic Studies was invited by the New Testament Society of South Africa to participate at their congress and to present the keynote lecture 'Speaking Greek under Rome - Paul, the Power of Language and the Language of Power'.

The lecture was very positively received and considered a significant contribution to New Testament Studies and Theology in the 'new' (after 1994) South Africa and its emerging democratic society.

Previous to the congress, Dr. Ehrensperger had also been invited to participate in and give a lecture on the topic of her monograph 'Paul and the Dynamics of Power: Communication and Interaction in the Early Christ-Movement' at the New Testament research seminar of the Department of Theology at the University of South Africa in Pretoria.
