From contrasting perspectives, The Month Had 32 Days interprets the theme of time through a variety of genres and styles, each pushing through the swinging doors of mania and sadness, pleasure and loss that unite us all.
This volume, by a group of emerging writers from the University’s MA Creative Writing programme reveals the extraordinary in the everyday, sheds light on the darkest recesses of our inner nights and pauses to mark the moments in time that bind us together.
Programme Director Menna Elfyn describes it as "something dynamic... that will excite every type of reader". She explains:
"This anthology includes twelve diverse writers from Wales, England, Denmark and the U.S. who came together to produce an eclectic anthology that reflects cross-cultural, genre and gender appeal. It contains poetry and a variety of prose sub-genres including romance, comedy, fantasy and suspense; something for every taste."
"The authors (with established backgrounds in visual art, acting, directing and music) draw on their collective resources to create something dynamic, shifting and with a real sense of movement through time and experience".
"Time is unravelled in a range of ways including the subtle exploration universal human experience, (birth, love, death), narratives framed by the seasons or quietly pausing at specific moments in time, and plots that pulsate along the passage of time. This continually shifting tone and pace will excite every type of reader."
"Work and travel around the U.S., Europe and Papua New Guinea also colours the writing, offering authentic ‘snapshots’ that pause in time and place, capture the reader, and sweep them along on the continued journey through past, present and future."
Note to Editor
- The University of Wales Trinity Saint David is working with Swansea Metropolitan University, Coleg Sir Gâr, Pembrokeshire College and Coleg Ceredigion to create a dual sector university.
