Pupils from Carmarthenshire, Swansea, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion schools all visited the UCAS West Wales Convention held at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David campus on 12 April.
Representatives from UK universities and colleges were at the event, organised by UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) in conjunction with University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
Young people were provided with seminars, prospectuses and application advice to seek help with further study options.
Carwen Richards, Lisa Thomas, Kyle Ward, Jermaine Logan, Daloni Davies, Jodie Coombes and Ruth Davies from Lampeter Comprehensive School are currently studying for their AS and are all hoping to go on to university.
“It’s been really good to have a look around the stalls and to find out about the different Universities,” said Lisa.
“We have been having a browse around all the different universities. I’m not really sure yet where I want to go or what I want to study so this has been a great opportunity to see what’s on offer.”
Provost of the Carmarthen Campus of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Gwilym Dyfri Jones, said the event had proved an invaluable day for anyone wanting to progress on to Higher Education.
“Choosing the right university or college can be daunting,” he said. “Of course, each university and college has something special to offer. We hope that this event has helped inspire more young people to go on to university made their decision a little easier.”
