Work by renowned artist Iwan Bala part of new National Museum Exhibition in Cardiff

A new exhibition to celebrate Derek Williams’ contribution to art in Wales includes work by Iwan Bala, the renowned Welsh artist and lecturer at the University.

Iwan Bala The name Derek Mathias Tudor Williams will not be familiar to everybody, but it is this Welshman who has been the greatest benefactor to Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum. since Gwendoline and Margaret Wales Davies

Iwan Bala is lecturer at the School of Creative Arts at The University of Wales Trinity Saint David and is a multi disciplinarian, publishing numerous books, articles and essays on contemporary art in Wales as well as presenting and researching television programmes, teaching and curating.

Another exhibition of his work “Our Nature” currently on at the National Botanic Garden of Wales in Llanarthne explores the conflicts and conjunctions that exist at the wellspring of creativity, where uncontrolled inspiration is moulded and cultivated, where human attempts to control nature are in themselves natural.

Iwan Bala is also showcasing his work at the ‘Ten Years in' exhibition at BayArt, Cardiff marking the 10th anniversary of Butetown Artists Studios and BayArt.
