University hosts family days out to banish half term boredom!
10.02.2011
The first-ever Family Fun Days at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David will offer a feast of activities on 22nd and 23rd February - perfect for those looking to spend quality time doing something different during half term.
China Experience
On Tuesday, the Confucius Institute will take over the Taf Suite at the University Carmarthen campus and the campus will come alive with all things Chinese!
The workshop will include a range of activities which include dressing up in traditional ethnic Chinese clothes, trying out Chinese snacks, participating in a traditional tea ceremony or trying their hand at calligraphy. You can also have a go at Mandarin!
Your Digital Story
On Wednesday, the fun moves to the Lampeter campus and the digital story workshop –where you can work together as a family to tell your story.
Bring along any photos or videos you may want to use but if you already have photos on-line, you can access these during the day too. This is an exciting way to record parts of your family history or to tell any story which is important to you.
The free events at the Carmarthen and Lampeter Campuses run from 9.30am to 3.30pm and university staff will be on hand to support and encourage the whole family to get involved in the activities.
The University’s Family Fun Day is supported by the Widening Access Programme.
Eve Warburton, Widening Access Officer at the University says:
“We have put together this programme of family- centred activities to encourage you to get involved with the University and gain an insight into what we do. The University is delighted to welcome you to explore the excellent facilities that you can share in as a member of our local community.”
Parking on site is free at the weekends and visitors should contact Wendy Davies on 01570 424855 or e-mail: w.davies@trinitysaintdavid.ac.uk to find out full details of events and sign up for activities as booking is essential.
This event is open to the general public.
