Ordering LRC Resources
Ordering resources for the Library
Academic staff are welcome to order resources for stock in the Library at either campus. An annual budget is set aside for the purchase of resources for each School, and orders must be approved by the School budget holder before being sent to the LRC.
How to order
Please use the form provided:
LRC Requisition Form
In order for the form to work correctly, please download it from the website and open it in Microsoft Excel.
Send the completed form to the Library.
Completing the form
- Ordered By - type your name here
- Date - this is completed automatically
- Campus - this is the campus at which you wish us to stock the resources, i.e. Carmarthen Library or Lampeter Library. E-books are accessible at both campuses and off-campus via an Athens account.
- Ebooks - we will automatically purchase electronic books (e-books) instead of printed copies where available. If you only require print copies, or print and e-books, please change the drop-down box. Please note that some books are only available in print.
- Budget holder’s signature - the budget holder’s signature is required before we can process your order. We can accept electronic signatures providing the form is emailed to the LRC from the budget holder’s personal University email address.
- Module - please enter the module code for the module which will use each resource, if known. You can enter a different code for each resource you order.
- Author, Title, ISBN - please enter as much information as possible about the resource you wish to order. We can order resources without an ISBN, though this may delay the processing of your order. For DVDs or teaching artefacts without an ISBN, please leave this blank. For journals please enter the ISSN in the ISBN field.
- Ed. - Edition - please enter the edition of the book if you are ordering a second or subsequent edition. The LRC will normally order the newest edition of a book.
- Year - the year of publication, if known
- Pub. - Publisher - please enter the publisher’s name, if known. This is particularly useful if you do not know the ISBN.
- Price - if you enter a price, the form will automatically calculate the total cost of your order. Please use the RRP (Recommended Retail Price) and not the discounted price from Amazon or other suppliers.
- Number of copies, Loan Status - please enter the number of copies you require for each loan status as follows:
No Band: these will be made available for loan to all students and staff for the standard loan period.
Red Band: these are made available for loan to all students and staff for one week at a time only.
Blue Band: these will be available for LRC use only, or loaned only for very short periods, e.g. 3 hours at a time.
Yellow Band: these are made available for overnight loan to all students and staff and cannot be renewed.
You only need to enter the number of copies you require under each loan status.
The form will calculate the total number of copies you require and total cost in the green boxes. - Is this item already in stock? - LRC staff check to see if each resource is already in stock before placing your order to avoid unnecessary duplication. If a resource you require is in stock and you want to order extra copies, please change the drop down box from "No" to "Yes - I want extra copies". If you are unsure, click the links next to the box to search the LRC catalogue.
If you know that every resource you list on the form is in stock, you can just tick the box at the top of the page marked "If the items are in stock, do you wish to order extra print copies?"
Delivery time
Please allow 3 - 4 weeks from submitting your order for the resources to be added to Library shelves. This also allows us time to add your order to the LRC catalogue and process the resources ready for loan. The LRC use our own bulk suppliers who provide us with a set discount and also library processing services to ensure we can get your resources onto the shelves in the quickest possible time.
Orders for specialist resources, such as teaching artefacts or out of print books, and orders placed at peak times (August - October and June - July) may take longer to process. If your order is urgent, please contact us and we will do our best to prioritise the order.
