Fines
To reinforce the need for items on loan to be returned promptly, charges are levied on those which are overdue.
Fines can accumulate to a maximum of £10 per item, per loan. During term time, you may not be permitted to borrow new material if you have fines outstanding. You may also be restricted from renewing any items which are already on your account if you have excessive fines outstanding. Towards the end of each term, you may be asked to pay off any outstanding fines before the vacation periods. You will also be asked to completely clear any fines on your account at the end of each academic year.
Fines will be charged at the following rates:

| Yellow band | £2 per day | |
| Blue band | 20p per hour (or part of an hour) | |
| Journals | £1 per day | |
| Laptops and netbooks | £10 per day |
