The Points-Based Immigration System

What is the Points-Based System (PBS)?

3-blokes-writing-lecture

PBS is a new immigration system introduced in the UK. The section relevant to students ("Tier 4") came into effect in March 2009, and since 2010 universities are required to use the Tier 4 Sponsor Management System for all international students.

Since the requirements and regulations of the Points-Based Immigration System change frequently, they are not detailed here. Instead you are advised to check the latest situation on the UK Border Agency website (see below)

How do I find out more about PBS?

For official policy documents and more detailed information, including the latest situation, visit the UK Border Agency website.

The UK Council for International Student Affairs has a helpful website with lots of information for international students, including updates on the Points-Based System:

Is the University of Wales Trinity Saint David a 'Highly Trusted Sponsor'?

It is a requirement of PBS that institutions be registered with the UK Border Agency in order to recruit international students.

Both the Carmarthen Campus and Lampeter Campus in the University of Wales Trinity Saint David is a Highly Trusted Sponsor.
