About the Course
This course has been created in response to the need for professionals who work in a multi-agency environment and/or who deliver services to children and adults. This Foundation Degree is suitable for those who work within a setting where several agencies may be involved eg schools, hospitals, children’s services, social services, justice system, police. During the course you will study aspects of work within education, health, social services and the justice system, in addition to voluntary agencies. You will focus particularly on how these agencies collaborate to deliver solutions to problems that affect people of all ages. Students of this foundation degree will be at the forefront of service delivery in Wales.

Key Features
A Foundation Degree is an employment-related qualification at higher education level. It is designed to equip students with the higher-level skills and knowledge that not only meet the needs of the employer, but also offer the opport u n i ty to develop personally and professionally. The Foundation Degree in Multi AgencyWorking has been designed specifically for those professionals who are working to support people in a variety of settings, and to respond to the changing needs within a multi-disciplinary arena.
The programme aims to allow learners from a diverse range of backgrounds to learn within a supportive and flexible framework which recognises their needs, aspirations and potential. It also aims to support the developing role of the professional through widening access to higher education and lifelong learning. The programme supports work-based learning and the delivery of modules in a variety of ways, including Saturday and Day School sessions, twilight sessions, and the use of training days and off-campus delivery. The degree will include modules delivered through the medium of English, Welsh and bilingually, and students will have the opportunity to present their work in either English or Welsh.

Programme Specification
Educational Aims:
The main educational aims of the programme are to enable students to:
- Draw on a wide range of theoretical perspectives and academic disciplines to illuminate understanding of issues of Multi Agency Working in a variety of contexts.
- Engage with a broad and balanced knowledge and understanding of the principal features of Multi Agency Working within their working practice.
- Acknowledge, accept and understand the values, interests and moral positions of others.
- Engage with fundamental research concerning the aims and values of their roles as Multi Agency Workers within a variety of contexts.
- Use knowledge gained from experience to explore the challenging nature of social theory, policy and practice linked to collaborative working.
- Adopt appropriate problem solving skills which enables them to assess outcomes of interventions used to tackle issues relating to Multi Agency Working.
Programme Outcomes
The Learning Outcomes of the modules in the programme will enable students to demonstrate:
Knowledge and understanding of the field
- an awareness of the underlying values and principles relevant to Multi Agency Working
- knowledge of the diversity of human and social needs in the UK, particularly within Wales, and of social policies and welfare institutions which exist to meet them
- the ability to identify relevant theoretical and research based primary and/or secondary sources and to use these appropriately in their study to extend their knowledge and understanding
- knowledge of some of the more significant sources of data about social welfare and a critical grasp of the main research methods used to collect and analyse the data
- an understanding of interdisciplinary approaches to social policy topics and issues
- an understanding of how contemporary social problems have emerged and of social policy responses

- a sound ability to analyse concepts, theories and issues of policy in a systematic way;
- an ability to identify and reflect on potential connections between each of the aspects of subject knowledge and their application in policies and contexts;
