Recreating in a cultural landscape

This presentation examines the development of outdoor education in Ireland in parallel with the evolving manner in which Irish people view the landscape as portrayed in art and literature. Attention will be focused briefly on different ways of looking at landscape, whether as an outsider or as someone living in the landscape. The role that outdoor education can have in influencing our interpretations of landscape is explored within the context of a developing outdoor education sector in Ireland. Finally the implications of how we as educators view the landscape is discuss with a view to the training of outdoor education graduates in Ireland.
