Introduction to the Centre
The Centre for Outdoor Education Research was established in 2005 to improve the professional practice and knowledge base of individuals, groups and organisations involved in outdoor learning. The Centre has three clearly defined roles: - Learning & Teaching - To create a dynamic, experiential forward thinking learning & teaching environment linked to the delivery of outdoor education at the postgraduate, undergraduate and community levels
- Research & Community Development - To undertake research, and pilot innovative outdoor education programmes, linked to personal learning, improved health and well-being, community development, social identity and environmental sustainability.
- Professional Development - To meet the training and professional development needs of outdoor educators locally, nationally and internationally.
The Centre is part of the European Institute for Outdoor Adventure Education and Experiential Learning (EOE) and an organisational member of the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL).
