Lampeter Academics at Europe's Largest Medieval Conference
07.07.2011
Archaeology and History staff will represent two of Trinity Saint David's flagship research projects at Europe's largest Medieval Conference the International Medieval Congress held annually at Leeds University.
The
Strata Florida Research Project has its own session and project directors
Professor David Austin and
Dr Jemma Bezant will be presenting the latest research surrounding the precinct and grange estates of Wales's largest Cistercian holding. As Dr Bezant explained, “the grange estates of this part of the World do not conform to the accepted Cistercian model and some of Strata Florida’s monastic centres may reflect an earlier, Welsh antecedence which is why a combined historical and archaeological approach is so vital”. Joining them is Professor of History,
Janet Burton who is also co-hosting two sessions for the
Monastic Wales Project, jointly convened with Dr Karen Stober of the Universitat de Lleida.
